Oracle vs SAP

Interesting article (click the link above).
Summary of SAP vs Oracle (unbiased :))
Key determinants in ERP purchase decision:
• TCO (total cost of ownership)
• Functionality

Oracle has better support standards with Fusion, SAP is comparatively not that well interfaced with other systems (say via BPEL, not all modules support BPEL in SAP)

SAP implementations are larger (more modules), more complex and hence costlier. Customers with complex businesses usually go for SAP

Oracle with its high adaptability (fusion) is better for evolving and growing\dynamic companies due to better scalability, integration and platform independence.

Oracle: Vertical Specialization Lacked big time until it acquired and integrated some partner products
SAP: Strong industry\business process driven products (18-25 industries)

SAP offers business processes - Oracle offers flexibility, scalability and integration
